- On this day in 1945, the United States dropped a 21 kiloton Atomic Bomb nicknamed ‘Fat Boy’ on the Japanese city of Nagasaki which killed about 40 to 80 thousand people. This came three days after the US dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
