FLED Institute holds Lagos Conference

… advocates national cohesion through positive narratives

FLED International Leadership Institute, a think-tank organisation that equips individuals to become transformational leaders held its People & Power Conference on June 12. The event which held in Lagos to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day in Nigeria, had as its theme, “Promoting National cohesion through positive narratives”.

Speakers at event include Rev. Olumide Olugbenle, FCA, a transformation implementation expert, who posited that massive investments in critical programs that will change the narratives must be encouraged. Dr. Bolaji Akinyemi, advised participants to first analyse how we have become victims of negative narratives and work on changing the mindset because there is no way a victim can save a nation while Dr Olunifesi Adekunle Suraj, an associate professor of social media strategic communication at the University of Lagos, spoke about harnessing our diversity for National growth. China, he said, has more population than Nigeria and they live in peace because they have surmounted their cultural challenges.

Rev Olugbenle and Dr Suraj are both alumni of FLED international leadership institute, Lagos Chapter.

People & Power Conference is a public service initiative of FLED institute that provides opportunity for participants to discuss and network. The 2023 edition of the conference was moderated by the President of FLED group, Dr Joseph Ibekwe, while Mosunmola Omokunga, an entrepreneur, was the conference planning chairperson. The co-coordinator of the event was Funmilayo Arowoogun, a pastor and an entrepreneur.

Shortly after the conference, The Joseph Coaching International hosted the first ever DIVE Leadership Experience where accomplished leaders share knowledge and stories on their leadership journey to help new and emerging leaders.

Dr Joseph Ibekwe, the President of FLED group moderated the session and one of the guest appearances, Ms Olanike Kolawole, DGM consumer banking Ecobank, Lagos, spoke about Team management and selecting team members in line with their strengths or weaknesses. Mr Tim Akano, M.D New Horizons Nigeria, talked about how to be intutitive and living one’s dreams. While, Bishop Benson Ashiedu, G.O world changer int’l church Lagos said that leaders must have the ability to forgive and control their temperament.

FLED Institute currently has members across the federation, Uganda, Gambia United Kingdom and more. Benefits of membership include becoming receiving recognition as part of the ecosystem of transformational public space leaders in Africa and Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programs.
