  • On this day in 2003, Globacom (also known as Glo), a Nigerian telecommunications carrier, started operations on August 29, 2003. Founded by Mike Adenuga Jr., Globacom was the fourth GSM operator to launch in Nigeria.
  • On this day in 1831, Michael Faraday experimentally demonstrated that a changing magnetic field can induce a voltage in a conductor. The discovery of electromagnetic induction helped in the creation of electric generators, transformers, and even induction cook tops.
